Cluster flies that are near your windows, doors, and lights in the spring time as temperatures begin to get warmer are probably Cluster flies. They are harmless to humans since they do not spread disease, they can be a nuisance in large groups.
Cluster flies are overwintering type pests, they will try to enter a house or building in the fall as temperatures begin to get colder and search for a warm place to survive for the winter time. When they finally get inside, the Cluster flies will hide in cracks, crevices, etc. and are usually not seen by people. They are most likely to be seen in the spring when the weather warms as they try to leave their hiding spots in search of food.
